Nelson Franklin has won a guest role on Zooey Deschanel’s New Girl.
Franklin (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) has been cast as a new love interest for Cece (Hannah Simone), TV Guide reports.
His character Robby – who will appear in the comedy’s season two premiere – is half-deaf and a terrible dancer, but is described as “a genuinely nice guy”.
Cece previously dated the womanising Schmidt (Max Greenfield), but the pair broke up in New Girl‘s first season finale.
Guest star Franklin played a recurring role on NBC’s The Office and also starred in short-lived Fox sitcom Traffic Light in 2011.
David Walton (Bent) and Niecy Nash (Reno 911!) will also appear in season two of New Girl.
The series returns to Fox on September 25. In the UK, New Girl airs on E4.

Zooey Deschanel’s Jess might have had spotty luck with men in “New Girl” Season 1, but it appears our favorite elementary school teacher has a few men trying to catch her eye in Season 2. Joining David Walton in vying for Jess’ affections will be former “Book of Mormon” star Josh Gad, whose NBC sitcom “1600 Penn” debuts at midseason.
According to E! Online, Gad will play Bearclaw, a beer delivery guy at Nick’s bar who takes a liking to Jess. He’ll show up in the Season 2 premiere of “New Girl,” airing Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 9 p.m., an hour after a special bonus new episode at 8 p.m..
Walton, on the other hand, seems like he’ll have a much better chance with Jess. The two will meet when his bad boy character mistakes her for someone else. Since he’s recurring for several episodes, it appears that relationship might have more legs.
Also appearing in Season 2 are Niecy Nash, Leslie Mann and Rachael Harris.
