The final season of New Girl may see big changes for our favorite True American aficionados, but it seems one thing will definitely still be around when the series airs next year: the loft.

New Girl‘s shortened final season will pick up with the group three years after the events of Season 6 — which saw them making serious life changes. Newlyweds Cece and Schmidt not only took the plunge and bought a house, they also learned they’re expecting a baby. Meanwhile, Winston and Aly got engaged and — eek! — Nick and Jess finally got back together.
The group is moving on with their lives, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be saying goodbye to one of its most important characters so soon.

The loft not only brought the guys and Jess (and Cece) together, but it’s been the center of most of the action throughout the series. Luckily, thanks to this behind-the-scenes photo posted by New Girl star Zooey Deschanel, we’re getting another look at their beloved loft space.

Now, after three years, we have to ask: Who is living in the loft?

Our money is on Nick and Jess because come on, it has to be them, right? TVLine reports that the time jump will see a very happy Nick and Jess together. And let’s face it, the loft is the center of their relationship. Plus, that (pictured) coffee table plant *screams* Jess.

But it looks as though New Girl is going to throw us for a loop one last time: it was announced that Dermot Mulroney will return for the final season as Jess’s ex Russell “Fancyman” Shiller, whom we haven’t seen since Season 2. Could Fancyman be returning to challenge Nick for Jess’s affection?

We have no idea, but it looks as though New Girl is pulling out all the stops for its final season, which airs in 2018.

Zooey Deschanel and husband Jacob Pechenik are firm believers that the greatest wealth is health, and they’re dishing on the importance of “know it or grow it” in their new educational series “Your Food’s Roots with Zooey Deschanel.”

When Deschanel got pregnant with their first child, Elsie Otter, 2, the pair began to research whether or not the food they had been consuming all of these years would “the best thing for our child’s brain.”

“When I started looking into where our food was coming from, we all of the sudden starting seeing all this opaqueness – there were all these walls to finding out where your food came from, but that is a part of how we socialize, how we interact with our peers,” Deschanel told PEOPLE about how being a mother has changed the way she sees food.

“There are a certain amount of restaurants that tell you which farm your food came from, but most places don’t know, and a lot of places can’t tell you where your beef or chicken comes from,” she continues. “We started realizing that wall was making it difficult, though we were curious and slight obsessive and even we were having trouble finding out.”

The 5-episode original series — which is a collaboration between the health conscious couple’s new initiative The Farm Project and ATTN: — will focus on reconnecting people with the food they consume, where it comes from, and how it affects our body as a whole, as well as educating viewers on the benefits of a sustainable lifestyle. Created for Facebook, “Your Food’s Roots” is one of several original productions ATTN: is launching on the new Watch surface on Facebook. Other shows include, “Health Hacks with Jessica Alba.”

“The more you eat local produce, the more fruit and vegetables you eat, the better you feel and the healthier you are, which makes it easier to stay fit and also the better it tastes,” says the New Girl actress. There was only like four percent of sustainable food production and the other 96 percent was industrialized, and that was just a big shock to us.”

In each episode, Deschanel will interview experts and everyday people about the origins of our food and the harmful production process behind it, essentially encouraging viewers to become “knowers” and “growers.”

“We have an organic farm in Texas that grows a lot of stuff, but at our house we grow leafy greens and lettuces, different herbs, tomatoes, squash, zucchini,” she says about the garden they have growing on the property of their own home in Los Angeles. “When you grow your own food, it’s exciting and your kids get excited.”

And while kids tend to enjoy food that comes from a box rather than the earth, Deschanel makes sure to throw a fun spin on eating healthy by allowing her daughter to take a field trip to the backyard to handpick her food from the ground each time it’s time for a meal.

“Our daughter might not eat a piece of broccoli if you bring it to her on a plate, but if she gets to pick it herself she gets so excited and wants it!” Says Deschanel. “And then she wants to try everything – the arugula, the herbs.”

In fact, Elsie Otter has become so obsessed with her leafy greens that Deschanel and Pechenik often have to hid the salad from her because certain kinds of lettuce have the tendency to get stuck in childrens’ throats.

“She can eat romaine, so I’ve just started making more romaine lettuces, and the arugula just has to be chopped up really small,” says Deschanel.

“Your Food’s Roots with Zooey Deschanel” premieres on Facebook Watch on November 7.

It turns out there’s still more of Jess’ story to tell on New Girl.

Fox has picked up the sitcomfor a seventh and final season, TVGuide.com has learned. The final episodes will allow the show’s creative team to create a full final arc for Jess (Zooey Deshcanel) and the people she’s grown to love over the past six years.

Due to the late renewal, New Girl executive producers Dave Finkel and Brett Baer had created a Season 6 finale that could double as a series finale in case Fox didn’t come through with additional episodes.

“We really wanted to make sure that we delivered an ending that could work in both directions,” Finkel told TVGuide.com. “If it was the series finale, that it answered a lot of questions, and then if it was just the season finale, there would be space to grow.”

Now with an end date predetermined rather than set after the fact, New Girl can end on the narrative that it wants and make sure the creators hit every note that they want to.

“The show’s evolved,” Baer said before the finale. “There are more questions to answer and some of them are a little more adult and don’t have as much to do with dating and romance, but I think these characters can support that.”

A new girl (or guy) is on the way! Zooey Deschanel is pregnant and expecting her second child with her husband, Jacob Pechenik, Us Weekly can confirm.

The New Girl actress, 37, and Pechenik are already parents of 18-month-old daughter Elsie Otter.

As previously reported by Us, the actress surprised fans by confirming not only the birth of her firstborn in August 2015 but also that she had secretly married Pechenik.

“I am thrilled to confirm that Zooey Deschanel and her husband, Jacob Pechenik, are new parents to a beautiful healthy baby girl,” the actress’ rep told Us in a statement at the time, confirming that Deschanel quietly wed Pechenik in June 2015 in Texas.

During her first pregnancy, the 500 Days of Summer actress struggled with avoiding her fave foods.

“You can’t have sushi. You can’t have cheese that tastes good,” she said during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! “You can have a little bit [of coffee], but I would have, like, four cups a day. And now I can have a half cup, which is a joke! It’s a total joke!”

Zooey Deschanel has lobbed a big cross-complaint in her dispute with her former management firm over commissions. The New Girl star alleges that Seven Summits partner Sarah Jackson purposely barged into her private dressing room with two strangers while she was changing her clothes.

According to papers filed last week in Los Angeles Superior Court, Deschanel says she was on tour performing with her musical group She & Him when “Jackson brought the two strangers in the dressing room to help further [the manager’s] career and to potentially generate revenue for [the firm],” states the cross-complaint.

That’s not all she’s alleging.

Seven Summits originally brought the lawsuit in December 2015. The firm said it had represented the star from 1996 to 2013 and demanded 10 percent of what she received for selling the female-focused site Hello Giggles. After Deschanel refused, the actress-singer allegedly also refused to pay post-termination commissions for other work including Deschanel’s role on New Girl.

Initially, Deschanel challenged the claim by filing a petition with the California Labor Commissioner asserting that Seven Summits and Jackson had been acting as unlicensed talent agents. But the petition was dropped. Deschanel’s attorney Marty Singer appears to have a new strategy.

Deschanel is now claiming that Seven Summits doesn’t really have an enforceable written agreement — “the document upon which Cross-Defendants rely does not appear to contain [her] signature,” states her court papers — and that the firm has breached fiduciary duties.

She alleges that Seven Summits attempted to take advantage of Deschanel’s relationship with Creative Artists Agency by requesting that agent Jim Toth set up a meeting with an actor that Seven Summits sought to manage. When the actor wouldn’t sign up, Seven Summits allegedly decided to retaliate against CAA by encouraging Deschanel to switch to UTA “despite the fact that [Seven Summits] knew CAA and the agents representing [Deschanel] were (at the time) the agency and agents most well-suited for [her] entertainment career and that changing to UTA was not in [her] best professional interests.”

After she terminated Seven Summits in 2013, Deschanel switched back to CAA. Two years later, shortly after many CAA agents (including hers) defected for UTA, triggering a separate lawsuit, Deschanel again moved over to UTA.

In her cross-complaint, Deschanel also alleges that Jackson has sought to get producer credits on projects the actress was involved in as well as tried to obtain backend participation for her work. Deschanel attempts to create a portrait of a manager whose actions were self-serving. She’s demanding disgorgement of all commissions since January 2013 as well as declaratory relief that Seven Summits has no right to collect commissions on her earnings or any monies received from investments.

“This is just another attempt by Ms. Deschanel to muddy the waters and not to pay the commissions owed,” Seven Summits attorney Kenneth Freundlich tells THR. “We intend to vigorously litigate against this cross-complaint.”

Looks like one child was not the plan for Zooey Deschanel and husband, Jacob Pechenik.

The 36-year-old New Girl actress is expecting her second child with Pechenik, but what does this mean for her hit Fox series?

We have no idea. When Deschanel took some time off to give birth to Elsie Otter last year, Megan Fox stepped in to cover for the six episodes Deschanel missed.

In the narrative, it was revealed that Jess was sequestered due to jury duty, but it’s doubtful the writers will be able to go that route this time.

It has been revealed that the cast and crew have been informed of the pregnancy, but it’s unclear what this will mean for production on a potential seventh season.

Yeah, the show has not yet been renewed, or canceled.

Megan Fox’s character, Reagan, was an instant hit with viewers and she has appeared sporadically on the show ever since her debut.

Her character was like a funnier version of Jess. Yeah, we know, Jess is hilarious, too.
Megan Fox in Purple

Maybe they can make her a more regular fixture, or something.

There’s no denying that the show feels off without Deschanel, but we don’t even know how far along she is in her pregnancy at this stage.
Zooey Deschanel and Her Daughter on The Set of ‘New Girl’

There’s every possibility they could go straight into production on Season 7 to get some episodes in the can, but that would involve the show being picked up for more episodes.

Ratings are down around 20 percent this year, but the show still packs a punch in delayed viewing and Fox has been pretty vocal about not caring about the live ratings.

Could Fox be losing both Deschanel sisters in the one year?

Quite possibly. If you recall, Emily Deschanel is one of the leads in Bones, which will be ending its 12-year-run in the Spring.
